Get to know our team

Church isn’t about a building—it’s about people. And at Living Springs, we are blessed with an incredible team who serve, lead, and love our church family. We’d love for you to get to know them!

Richard Gordon

Senior Pastor

Pastor Richard and his wife Beth are originally from the Pacific Northwest and have two grown children and four grandchildren.

Richard has been a full-time pastor since the mid-nineties after teaching at a community college for two decades.

He attended Faith Seminary in Tacoma, Washington and graduated in 2005 with a Master of Theological Studies. He served at two churches in the Pacific Northwest as associate pastor before moving to the Midwest.

Richard is very rooted in God's Word, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was ordained into the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) in 2014.

He has been the Senior Pastor at Living Springs Church since September 2019.

Both he and Beth enjoy biking, kayaking, and sitting by the fire reading books or watching a good movie!

Heidi Markie

Office Manager/Children's Director

Heidi keeps the office running smoothly, which is no easy task!

This multi-talented lady not only manages the church office and oversees children's programs, but also decorates the sanctuary.

In her free time, Heidi loves creating art, reading, and spending time with her family.

Gene Whitehead

Youth Director

Gene brings nearly two decades of rich ministry experience to our youth program. His pastoral journey includes serving in Sweden with Svenska Missionsförsamling (Swedish Mission Church), giving him a unique global perspective that helps our youth understand their place in God's worldwide mission.

With a Master of Ministry and Bachelor of Biblical Studies from Bible University Nova Scotia, Gene combines deep theological understanding with a gift for making Biblical truths accessible and relevant.

Gene's heart for teaching extends beyond our youth program through his website "Simple Theology, Messy Life," where he's been writing since 2015, helping believers navigate faith in practical ways.

When he's not investing in our youth, Gene enjoys time with his wife, roasting coffee, and writing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens in a service?

Our service typically lasts about an hour and is designed to be welcoming and hope-filled. You can expect to sing along (or just listen!) to three songs led by our talented local worship artists. After that, we’ll dive into a 20-30 minute Scripture-based sermon that’s thoughtful and practical.

We close with one final song to leave you encouraged for the week ahead. Feel free to participate as much or as little as you’re comfortable with—there’s no pressure!

What should I wear, and what can I expect when I arrive?

Dress however you feel comfortable—whether it’s jeans and a t-shirt or business casual, you’ll fit right in. What matters most is that you’re here!

When you arrive, our friendly welcome team will greet you and direct you to the Welcome Desk, where everyone—guests and regular attendees alike—receives a name tag to help us connect with one another.

Enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, or hot apple cider near the welcome area, and stick around after the service for light refreshments and fellowship.

What about my kids?

We love kids, and we’ve designed programs to help them learn and grow in a fun and safe environment! During the sermon, we offer Children’s Church for kids aged 4 years through 3rd grade. For older children in grades 4-6, a special lesson tailored just for them is available during the school year.

Childcare is also provided throughout the entire service for infants and toddlers up to age 3. Our team is excited to welcome your children and ensure they feel right at home.

Do you have small groups?

We offer opportunities for connection through small groups and gatherings. While our men’s and women’s ministries meet intermittently, our seniors meet every second Thursday at 10:30 AM at the church. Youth Discipleship happens every Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM.
